Lamboro Design Studio
Established in 1948 the Lamboro Design Studio was started by Albereto Lamboro and Stefano Modena in Florence in the economic downturn after the war. Both had engineering backgrounds and their mutual love for all things beautiful drove them to establsih their design business. From modest beginnings they started designing concepts for a little known scooter company which grew rapdily. Their iconic designs for Lambretta propelled them into the limelight and they were quickly overrun with new business leading them to expand rapidly.
Lamboro's founding principles of design are:
- To design something to look beautiful it at all possible and if the functionality limits the opportunity then it should at least be pleasing to the eye. (Ugly is not in their vocabulary)
- The design must be practical and must enhance the user's experience
- The design must be without compromise.
The list of companies that Lamboro have designed for is like a who's who of major Italian brands and includes high profile work in the automotive sector, domestic appliances such as coffee machines and home and office furniture.
Alberto Lamboro died in 1983 and his sone Marco took over running the company working closely with Stefano Modena. Stefano has since retired but is never far from the studio and is a constant source of inspriation and ideas for the team.
Lamboro design remains firmly established as one of Italy's leading design houses and Simply Bar Stools collaboration with them has resulted in a range of Bar Stools and Bar Tables that is unrivalled in the United Kingdom. Many of Lamboro's designs have been copied across the world but Simply Bar Stools hopes that its range offers customers a choice of beautiful and practical bar stools and bar tables.
